Radio Program Updates

Crew Members and Parents

We had a great time with the “Radio Live” event last night at the IKES. Ask Michael McCune about his contact with Slovenia! Thanks to all the Troop 766 Scouts in attendance last night. Besides displaying some of our capabilities, we had a chance to discuss upcoming activities and the general process of obtaining a radio license (in addition to enjoying some of the Crew’s Hawaiian ICE!) We are recommending that you use the QRZ.com website to practice for the actual test. You can access the practice tests here.

As announced at the last Crew meeting, we are allowing existing crew members to use the successful achievement of passing any radio licensing test as an advancement requirement for this year. All you need to do is pass the technician, general or extra exam before your first official day of school this fall to qualify for next year’s high adventure. This is a one-time offer and you shouldn’t depend on this offer occurring again.

One of our upcoming activities will be providing communications support at the FCA Power Camp between FCA personnel and coaches. This year’s Power Camp will be held July 7 (3-5 graders) and July 8 (6-8 graders) at College Community Campus, Kirkwood College and Airport National Golf Course in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The event will offer coaching and competition in the following sports:

Boys

  • Tennis
  • Golf
  • Basketball
  • Baseball
  • Track & Field
  • Wrestling
  • Football
  • Soccer

Girls

  • Tennis
  • Golf
  • Basketball
  • Softball
  • Track & Field
  • Cheerleading
  • Volleyball
  • Soccer

We need to have sign ups from you by Wednesday of this week to confirm to the Camp Sponsors that we will be there to support them.
